New York's Upper West Side, full of compulsive noshers, weekend partyfolk, mellow-groovy happyfolk, dedicated loners and lovers after the afterglow, all of whom know, deep down in their stomachs, that Big Nick’s emergency pizza service fulfills a very human, and often desperate, need. When sudden hunger strikes, you gotta eat.
Every night of the week, the pizza joint's understanding management keeps the ovens hot and the delivery staff running within the pizza joint's neighborhood, where delivery is free.

The chef stands ready to pile on the mushrooms and anchovies, or to tempt the truly distraught with a catalog of exotic variations—western pizza, chili pizza, beefburger pizza, and many more. Nick, the restaurant’s worldly wise owner, has seen everything: you needn't hesitate to confide your ultimate pizza fantasy, be it pizza with clam sauce or olives and feta cheese. A devoted pizza connoisseur himself, Nick may even suggest a few embellishments to make the moment perfect.
But this is not all! The pizza joint also specializes in Italian dinners, hero sandwiches, antipastos, and both Italian and Greek desserts. Choose from a wide variety options that can all be delivered to your door or enjoy your meal in the pizza joint's cozy dining room.

Food is good. I like their late night delivery. But I paid 2 dollar tip when I ordered 9 dollar meal, and the delivery guy was very rude. Forcing me to tip him again.

Ordered a Monte Cristo with Waffle Fries from the Brunch Menu. My order came with exactly 3 waffle fries. When I called to complain, they told me that it was merely intended to be decoration. Inexplicably the menu lists that this comes with a "garnish" of waffle fries. Who does that? How is 3 considered a proper portion?

We love Big Nicks! great burgers, great pizza! Especially wonderful for an in-person visit. Charming and unique. The quintessential New York experience.

Food was pretty decent, but the delivery guy kept asking for a tip. I told him it was included in the order, but he was pretty pissed that I didn't give him anything extra and walked away grumbling to himself (or cursing me out, I couldn't tell).

This place is usually spot on but tonite we ordered a few simple things for chanukah. The potato pancakes were inedible. Tasted more like something you would get at a Thai restaurant, rubbery, and like they'd just tossed them into a microwave rather than heating up to order. And they drowned the cheesecake in sauce even though we didn't request any. Really disappointed this go around.

Terrible, attitude staff - order takes 90minutes!!

I ordered the reuben with pastrami. The sandwich was not terrible but I found the whole experience very careless and haphazard. First, it's an open face sandwich, which I would have been okay with except they were stingy with ingredients- two slices of bread, pastrami, very little dressing and meager strands of sauerkraut. As as side, I literally got two waffle fries (was that by accident?) and 5 strands of julienne carrots & zucchini (another accident?). Overall, not worth the money. Would not order again.

What can I say about Big Nick's? Been eating there forever. The menu is a bit intimidating if you're not used to it (so many options!) The plain cheese pizza is pretty good, I love their chili w/rice, and their meatball parm was really good as well.

As usual with Nick's, the burger was tasty and of good quality, the fries were ok, and the vegetables impeccable. But unfortunately tonight, the first time I ordered food instead of being at the joint itself, they mixed up orders pretty badly. I got cheese instead of honey mustard sauce, I got a medium burger instead of a well-done one, and I got regular instead of sweet fries. The reason that I rate Nick's only 3 stars, though, is that the deliveryman asked for tipping despite the fact that I already tipped via Seamless. Will probably not order again.

There are 3 things to order from Big Nicks Pizza, Burgers and Breakfast. Thats it. Everything else is worthless They also like to nickel & dime you for everything. Big nick doesnt really "care", its all an act to make him look like some neighborhood savior. Filthy place also.

I've been going to Big Nick's since the 80s. It used to be a great place to go after a night of dancing and partying. I'm sorry to say that over the years it has gone down in quality. I used to love the French Fries and now they just seem like they're old and sometimes look half eaten. They never pay attention to the special requests and sometimes I don't get what I ordered. Like I ordered and egg and bacon sandwich and there was no bacon. I called and they said they would send it over and never did. The burgers still are pretty good.

The combo of being 24 hours and the variety of food offered makes big Nick's oneof the places I order the most from. Their sandwiches and pizza are excellent as are their burgers.

Food is fine, but the delivery is a nightmare

I want to preface that I never review a restaurant, and I have been happy with most food I had received, even if late/wrong order before. I am not a picky eater. For me to write something means its was horrible. I have ordered for Nick's before and its been okay, but consistent, slightly over priced food. Nothing to write home about and I think you can get a better burger elsewhere in the neighborhood. My order had not arrived 30 minutes after the estimate, so I called to see what happened, and I was told my order just left. 10 to 15 minutes later it shows up. This is crazy, as I live across the street! I had ordered chicken figures. What I got was a soggy and cold mixture of a small handful of fries, three small strips of chicken the size of the french fries, and two tator tots....seriously? This cost $13!!! I was hungry after forcing it down. I am not joking when I say I would have gotten higher quality, larger, and far cheaper meal off of a McDonald's Kid's menu. Never again and beware.

Great milkshakes and pizza. (Love the white pizza) The menu is almost too big, but you can't really go wrong with the prices or the variety. I prefer to get this delivered as the actual restaurant is small and noisy.

I love Big Nick's at any time of the day or night. Great diner food. Burgers are fantastic, pizza is nice and thin and tasty. I've taken many friends here at all hours, no one ever leaves disappointed. I've also ordered from them several times, and I've never had a problem with food being cold or not tasting right. But then I do live one block away.

I love Big Nick's because they are reliable. You know you're getting diner food, and it's good diner food. I usually get breakfast from them because it's delish and they do it all day. Their cheeseburgers are also satisfying. A huge plus for me is the Big Nick Soda! No other place I've found will deliver an extra large fountain soda with or without ice. WIn! Prompt delivery, very rarely get the order even slightly wrong.

I've lived around the corner from this place for just about 40 years. In pre-Seamless Web days, when my son was growing up, we used to say that he called the Burger Joint "Mommy." When a restaurant survives all these years, they have to be doing something right, and indeed they are most reliable, especially for their namesake Big Nick burger. It's a good size and arrives at correct rare or medium.

Old and cold Pizza. They sent me the leftovers for the night. After calling Seamless Web and having the arrogant manager call me...they have officially LOST MY BUSINESS! The biggest waste of $30 bucks on the planet. Note to BIG NICKS...Do not ask me how to make it better. Get me a fresh pizza!!! Do not give a long standing customer old, cold pizza and think that you can throw some fresh basil on it and it will fly with the customer!?!?!? So disappointing... SSSOOO DISAPPOINTED...

NEVER AGAIN! This place has horrible food. HORRIBLE! the worst delivery service. I live a few blocks away and made a mistake ordering from them - I got my food cold in 45 minutes. The burger was rare (I wanted it well done), the fries were ice cold and completely soggy. The "mexican burger" is just meat between two slices of hard bread covered in some sort of tomato, puke-like sauce. It tastes accordingly. I am genuinely surprised that my buddy didn't get food poisoning from the funny-smelling mushrooms on top of his burger... Also, it all comes packed in dirty containers, everything is thrown in together so that by the time you get your food it gets messed up! This wasn't the first time I had to send their food back either! Both this time and last, I had to deal with the rude staff over the phone and they again refused to refund my order. Pretty much SOL. Beware of the people (all by the name of Kevin, it seems), who write good reviews for this place. They are probably the managers of this establishment. I will never order from here again! When you are positive that you can get better food at McDonald's, you don't want to go to Big Nick's and Burger Joint & Pizza! Don't repeat my double-mistake. But if you don't believe me, just order anything off their outrageously overpriced menu and convince yourself!

My wife and I have been ordering from here for a year or so. Everytime we have ordered burgers and fries and they have been pretty good. However, tonight I tried to order something diferent and decided on chicken strips. How can you go wrong with chicke strips right? For 13 dollars, I was thinking it would be almost too much to eat. My food came, I open it up and to my suprise, it looked like something I could get from the local grocery store in the frozen foods section. Five small, and I mean very small, pieces of chicken that were warm at best and soggy fries. For good measure there was a strip of random bacon I guess could have doubled for an extra peice of chicken. I did call and speak with the manager and as per usual, could care less. Needless to say, if you decide to eat here, dont get the chicken fingers, rather save your money and go to the grocery store or McDonalds.

Awful. We ordered open faced turkey sandwiches that came with stuffing, sweet potatoes, mixed veggies, salad, corn on the cob and dinner rolls. The turkey is deli meat, not thick sliced turkey. The entire plate tasted like italian salad dressing. The corn was soggy. The dinner rolls were stale and smelled funny. We will never order from here again.

The only reason I'm giving this restaurant 1 star is because I don't have the option of giving none. My friends and I ordered a cheese pie, mozzarella sticks and nachos from here recently and all the three items were among the worst things I have ever eaten. The sauce was ridiculously sweet and the pie was cold, hard and had almost no cheese on it. The "nachos" consisted of a pile of tortilla chips with some beans dumped on the middle of the pile. The mozzarella sticks were empty but for a little cheese on the inside of one side. I'm not sure if the Big Nick's on 71st and this location are related. The Big Nick's on 71st is great and I will continue to order from there. I will never make the mistake of ordering from this location again.

How do they keep such a large menu and keep great quality across their food? pizza and burgers recommended. good greek foods, including their spinach pie. less good - their sandwiches. dont even go to the other big nicks - that one is not affiliated and makes it their job to rip off this one.

$13 for 4 cold, mediocre chicken fingers and some cold fries? Hell, no. I like to order when I get in late from going out, and it seemed like this place was the only one that was still open at 4am when I ordered at that time in the past, but the quality has been going down recently, and the time for delivery is increasing. I'm not asking for much - just some warm chicken fingers and fries delivered from 4 blocks away, at 3 or 4am. If that's not possible, sorry Big Nick's but you're out..

I wanted spaghetti w/ sausage, but it's not on the menu. Instead I ordered meat parmigiana (sausage) with linguine, and garlic bread for an extra $2. I live 16 blocks away. Delivery was 35 minutes, within advertised range. The food was barely warm. It tasted o.k., but nothing special. I've had better sausage. The garlic bread was very good. I'd probably order again and hope the food was a bit warmer.

the food delivered was almost uniformly awful - including the packaged piece of pound cake. my bbq chicken was tolerable - but all of the sides surrounding it were almost inedible. the corn on the cob WAS inedible - and such an easy thing to make. this was a great disappointment, especially since i have gotten food from the other big nick's and it was just fine.... but i won't be ordering from this one ever again.

The best 24-hour diner on the UWS, with lots of style points and a much longer menu than many other diners. Can't beat the hours. Only downside: service if you sit down is inconsistent and inattentive. It's not gourmet, but I've never had a bad entree at Big Nick's.

I order from this place when I'm hungry and don't want to try something new, or when my boyfriend and I want completely different things because we can always agree on Big Nick's. Just about everything I've tried from here is good. I love the baklava they sometimes include in the order. The veggie hot dog, and veggie burger are both really good. Solid place.

Ordered at 7:15 p.m on a Tuesday night. The expected delivery time was 15 - 30 min. At 8:15 I called to ask where my food was. The guy on the phone asks me "what's your address?" and I tell him, and he says "2 minutes. Very busy." Now it's 8:45 and I still haven't gotten anything. I've ordered from them before and their food isn't nearly worth the hassle.

Stick with the Greek specialties and you won't be disappointed - they're great. Order breakfast or something and beware. The last "omelette" I ordered was inedible. The grits came slopped all over it and the "avocado" was not in the omelette at all but rather in a separate container. As guacamole, which they charged me extra for (and didn't tell me they were doing till the delivery showed up) and which I can't eat anyway because I can't eat raw onions. Gross, gross, gross.

Horrible food and service. We didn't receive part of our order, so we called in, they said they would send it. An hour later, it still hadn't arrived, so we called again, they said they guy left. 2 hours later, we called again and finally got the manager who said they guy must have gotten lost so he would make another one. We someone finally came, 2 and half hours later, the order was freezing cold. They wouldn't refund us. All of the food that did arrive was horrible. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT.

Best burgers in the city -- probably the world, actually. The menu is 20-odd pages and has anything you could ever want in a diner. Ordering the food is so convenient, but you miss out on the glorious dive-y-ness of the place: the walls are covered with photos of obscure 'celebrities' and goddamn it's just a great place to eat!

We have ordered from them numerous times and a couple of times they have delivered Tsasiki instead of Tartar sauce. The last time we called to complain, they tried to say that this is their version of Tartar. the food is generally good unless you order something that requires tartar...

Well, I ordered a cheddar burger and it arrived sans cheese. It was pretty good, but $6.75 for some plain meat and a bun isn't my idea of cheap. I also got a side of fresh veggies, which was your standard steamed broc, caul, carrot and zuc. A little over cooked, no seasoning or anything. $4.50. Delivery was fast, but I'll probably stick to Harriet's Kitchen for my burger and side veggies.

This place is slipping. I used to love it here, but lately, every time I order, something is wrong, or whole items are missing. Delivery takes much longer than 30-40 minutes (well over an hour just now, on a non-rainy Wednesday), and the guy handed me my food (minus an item, of course) with the container sideways, so it's a giant mess, and soggy to boot. Not ordering from here again.

During his childhood in Athens, an expensive item like meat was stretched as far as it would go and never eaten everyday. It was often a matter of only on Sunday instead of never on Sunday as it says in the song. Now, the foods of Greece and the Mediterranean have gained recognition because of their emphasis on vegetables, grains and fish, but back then, Nick’s mother, Artemis, would fix a large plate of string beans braised in tomato. To Little Nick, this was equal to filet mignon. Often, he spent a day with her in the garden watching her cook dishes that were praised by all. What he didn't know then was that he was beginning his life's work.
Nick’s mother's only property was a small part of an ancient olive grove on the island of Samos where she was born and raised. She received her "profits" in olives and oil—a high quality, delicate variety. When she bought other oil, Nick found her usually excellent food inedible. It was his first lesson in cooking—choose ingredients carefully.
The best Mediterranean food comes from a home kitchen, but it still has been Nick’s dream since he was a culinary student at New York City Technical College to present the essence of that cuisine in his own restaurant—his favorite dishes freshly cooked with fresh ingredients.
Nick’s mother told him to add one more thing when cooking a wonderful Greek meal—good feelings for the friends coming to eat! For the folks at Big Nick’s, that’s you!
