The chef stands ready to pile on the mushrooms and anchovies, or to tempt the truly distraught with a catalog of exotic variations—western pizza, chili pizza, beefburger pizza, and many more. Nick, the restaurant’s worldly wise owner, has seen everything: you needn't hesitate to confide your ultimate pizza fantasy, be it pizza with clam sauce or olives and feta cheese. A devoted pizza connoisseur himself, Nick may even suggest a few embellishments to make the moment perfect.
But this is not all! The pizza joint also specializes in Italian dinners, hero sandwiches, antipastos, and both Italian and Greek desserts. Choose from a wide variety options that can all be delivered to your door or enjoy your meal in the pizza joint's cozy dining room.

Average pizza, good egg sandwich.

I specifically wrote that they call my cell phone upon arrival, and they didn't. I called the restaurant to ask for my food and first they said it was on the way. I called again and they told me maybe someone stole it. I went down to the lobby and they told me it's been sitting there for like half and hour (my buzzer doesn't work), and I didn't know!!!!

This place is absolutely horrible. It took two hours to deliver and was cold and dry once it came. I called after an hour to check on my order (and to make sure that they actually received it) and instead of asking me for my order number to check on it the guy screamed at me, was incredibly condescending, and then hung up on me before I could even get another word in. I definitely won't be ordering from here again.

I've ordered from here twice and both times the food was gross. They also forgot half of my order. Will never order from here again.

Big Nick's pizza is the best in the Upper West Side. For a traditional NY slice, I don't bother ordering from any place else.

Horrible! It took them more then an hour and a half to deliver!! I called after an hour and they told me it hadn't left yet, with no apologies or anything. When I got it it was cold, fries were soggy and the burger was in a crappy pita bread instead of a burger bun... not ordering from there again!

Food is good but the delivery guy refused to go up the stairs (to 3rd floor). He insisted I come down to pick up the food. With a 20% tip he's got a nerve!

-0 for customer service - they lie about whether your delivery has left or not - and they're rude

horrible. no attention to my requests - as simple as DRESSING ON SIDE, only to find my salad drowning in dressing. I asked for NO PLASTIC UTENSILS OR CONDIMENTS & was delivered a whole bag full of them. Food & delivery mediocre & unreliable.

They are HORRIBLE. I ordered a turkey burger with onion rings, a big nick soda, and a big nick's melt with a black and white milkshake. First, they deliver the burger on a freaking hot dog bun and my milkshake was missing and there were no onions rings. I called back three times and the customer service over the phone was horrid. The man had an attitude and gave the excuse that it was too busy. It does not take over 2 hours to redeliver a milkshake and onions rings. Disrespectful. And they acted as if I were bothering them about an order they messed up! They don't even deserve one star.

Delivery man took forever and when he delivered my food he insulted me for not giving him any tip on top of the 20% I already added to the order on seamless.

It took them over an hour to deliver my order and I had to call several times. First time they told me my order had already been delivered (I disputed that), second time they told me the guy was just a few blocks away, 10 minutes later I hadn't received the order. I called twice again before the burger arrived. Obviously, it was cold. Not ordering there again.

Very late delivery, rude guy on the phone. Too bad their burgers are good. Customer service sucks. There are plenty of other good burger places around, don't spend your money on a business that doesn't give a damn about their patrons.

An hour late, terrible, cold food, and two incredibly nasty rude employees on the phone. This restaurant is an embarrassment and should be shut down for hundreds of reasons. I would rather light myself on fire than have the mispleasure of ordering from this dump again.

do not order from here! waiting over an hour for food, on the way to hour #2. i tried calling to check on the order, and the guy puts me on hold for 5 minutes. i hung up, tried again, i think the same guy answers, and tells me i gotta call a different number to check on the order. thanks for nothing.

Just great - fast delivery. Pizza was a bit salty but crust made up for it -- tasted like an authentic NYC slice. Spinach pie great option for vegetarian. Waffle fries very tasty. We even got BIG NICK's on THANKSGIVING so for us, they are one of our favorite spots in the 'hood.

"A jack of all trades, but a master of none." Decent breakfast. Decent burgers. I wouldn't venture too far from that though. Pizza is terrible, although for the Upper West Side, it is probably above average. This is the quintessential UWS take out: quick delivery, mediocre, overpriced food, and an obnoxiously extensive menu. Great for 4 AM post-bar munches. In other words, their food tastes much better when you're intoxicated. 24 hour delivery is definitely a bonus though. I really wish there were better options around here, but alas, there are not. It's either pay $5,000 for a fancy (albeit delicious) meal from Sarabeth's, or settle for Big Nick's. Either your wallet will hurt, or your stomach will. Welcome to the Upper West Side.

I only ordered frank and beans and an ice cream sundae. Both were good and satisfied my late night craving. But the delivery took way too long and the delivery guy called me asking me to come down (always a bad sign). That pissed me off, I told him to ring the doorbell before eventually going down, but the kicker is he wasn't even down there. He was at the wrong building. Took another 10 minutes before he figured it out and came to the correct building.

Just ok, nothing special. Garlic bread was good and had a lot of flavor. The meatballs were small and the sauce had too much acid / not enough flavor. It tasted like it was out of a can. Friends have raved about things like the burgers to me, so I think if I am going to order from here again that will be the way I go.

Big Nick's is consistently great food and they deliver quickly. The steak fries are awesome (as is the Tahini dressing they offer as a side with their burgers). There are so many good things on the menu that it is difficult to focus on just one or two items.

Pizza was delivered much later than they said it would be. They said 30 minutes, but it took something like 90. Pizza was not burned, but close. Homemade baklava was placed in a dirty container from a white cake dessert!! Yuck.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I just spent $11.25 on four (4) small spoonfuls of ice cream and an 11.2 fl. oz bottle. of water. Please don't make the same mistake and order from here. The portion sizes are absolutely criminal; I'm never ordering from Big Nick's again.

A neighborhood staple! Ignore these primadonnas who are whining about delivery attitudes. Have you tried tipping appropriately? We ordered the fried chicken dinner (with mashed potatoes) and a slice of pizza. Everything was cold when it arrived which was odd because it was delivered relatively quickly. The chicken was pretty good however $13.95 for 4 relatively small pieces of chicken was a bit excessive. Slopped on the tray with the chicken was a piece of corn that may have been meant for a pig. It was soggy, cold and possibly days old. The mashed potatoes (which I'm pretty sure were pureed french fries) were also cold and tasted quite odd and sour. We also appreciated that they put the gravy for the mashed potatoes in the container with the salad. It was delightful to discover after dumping it all over the salad that it was in fact not salad dressing. Overall, we were disappointed in Big Nick's as they usually have decent food for the price.

I think the food here is actually very good and theres a great amount of variety, so it will suit whatever you or your party are in the mood for. However, I give this place only one star (0 if I could) because of the delivery service I received. I open the door and the delivery guy immediately makes a hand gesture asking for more tips. SO UNBELIEVABLY RUDE. On top of that, I call the restaurant, speak to the manager that night, and he proceeds to tell me "it's not his fault" that his employees are rude. As much as I love this neighborhood joint, I am so turned off by the service (which I consider just as important as the food itself) that I will never order from here again.

Horrible. Nothing resembling teriyaki sauce. Dried out, gross chicken. Rice had spaghetti sauce on it (for some reason). They included a disgusting, mushy piece of corn. Total ripoff. Horrible. Will never order from there again.

Our favorite comfort food place. We usually eat breakfast at the restaurant but order food regularly from here. Excellent burgers, pizzas, matzo ball soup, gyro sandwiches, on and on and on… There’s a reason why their menu is literally a booklet, they have everything! 45 years in business… they must be doing something right.

I Ordered a cheese burger with fries, n added deluxe (lettuce, tomato, pickle) $3.50.The total was $14.95. The burger came on a semi hard bun, had one small slice of tomato, half of leave lettuce and one stalk pickle. I counted the fries and total was 11. FOR THIS PRICE ITS DEF. NOT WORTH YOUR $

Burger's are good. I've ordered from here several times, and EVERY TIME they forget something or send the wrong food. The delivery ALWAYS takes at least 45 minutes. I was charged for curly fries twice and never sent the fries. Charged for chili fries and they forgot the chili. Finally, the last time I ordered the Greek chicken lemon soup, they sent regular chicken soup. They resent me another Greek Chicken Lemon soup and CHARGED ME FOR THEIR MISTAKE. DO NOT ORDER. Go in and eat here but don't order delivery or seamless because they will RIP YOU OFF.

Solid, if unspectacular, food, but perhaps the worst delivery service for any diner in NYC. Not once has the food arrived within the estimated time, and the staff are rude.

Wide variety of food, most of it prepared quite well. Lots of vegetarian options, both using fake meats and using real vegetables and grains. Service is reasonable, prices are reasonable. They tend to throw in free bonuses on a regular basis: a couple waffle fries, coleslaw, potato salad, carrots, zucchini, or even a little square of baklava!

Ordered a burger with bacon and gorgonzola cheese and spicy fries. Paid $20 for the platter (including tip) and got cheap leathery beef patty, no gorgonzola and soggy fries. Not a great burger for not a great price. And add this to the TMI file, the next day I paid for the burger a 2nd time; equally unpleasant.

Don't order from here if you want your food within the 15-30min delivery that is estimated. 9:30pm on a Tuesday night and they took 50min to get me simple spaghetti and linguini dishes. Ordered a Monte Cristo with Waffle Fries from the Brunch Menu. My order came with exactly 3 waffle fries. When I called to complain, they told me that it was merely intended to be decoration. Inexplicably the menu lists that this comes with a "garnish" of waffle fries. Who does that? How is 3 considered a proper portion?

Food was pretty decent, but the delivery guy kept asking for a tip. I told him it was included in the order, but he was pretty pissed that I didn't give him anything extra and walked away grumbling to himself (or cursing me out, I couldn't tell).

This place is usually spot on but tonite we ordered a few simple things for chanukah. The potato pancakes were inedible. Tasted more like something you would get at a Thai restaurant, rubbery, and like they'd just tossed them into a microwave rather than heating up to order. And they drowned the cheesecake in sauce even though we didn't request any. Really disappointed this go around.

I ordered the reuben with pastrami. The sandwich was not terrible but I found the whole experience very careless and haphazard. First, it's an open face sandwich, which I would have been okay with except they were stingy with ingredients- two slices of bread, pastrami, very little dressing and meager strands of sauerkraut. As as side, I literally got two waffle fries (was that by accident?) and 5 strands of julienne carrots & zucchini (another accident?). Overall, not worth the money. Would not order again.

What can I say about Big Nick's? Been eating there forever. The menu is a bit intimidating if you're not used to it (so many options!) The plain cheese pizza is pretty good, I love their chili w/rice, and their meatball parm was really good as well.

As usual with Nick's, the burger was tasty and of good quality, the fries were ok, and the vegetables impeccable. But unfortunately tonight, the first time I ordered food instead of being at the joint itself, they mixed up orders pretty badly. I got cheese instead of honey mustard sauce, I got a medium burger instead of a well-done one, and I got regular instead of sweet fries. The reason that I rate Nick's only 3 stars, though, is that the deliveryman asked for tipping despite the fact that I already tipped via Seamless. Will probably not order again.

There are 3 things to order from Big Nicks Pizza, Burgers and Breakfast. Thats it. Everything else is worthless They also like to nickel & dime you for everything. Big nick doesnt really "care", its all an act to make him look like some neighborhood savior. Filthy place also.

I've been going to Big Nick's since the 80s. It used to be a great place to go after a night of dancing and partying. I'm sorry to say that over the years it has gone down in quality. I used to love the French Fries and now they just seem like they're old and sometimes look half eaten. They never pay attention to the special requests and sometimes I don't get what I ordered. Like I ordered and egg and bacon sandwich and there was no bacon. I called and they said they would send it over and never did. The burgers still are pretty good.

Posted 2 years ago by Stephen F.
I want to preface that I never review a restaurant, and I have been happy with most food I had received, even if late/wrong order before. I am not a picky eater. For me to write something means its was horrible. I have ordered for Nick's before and its been okay, but consistent, slightly over priced food. Nothing to write home about and I think you can get a better burger elsewhere in the neighborhood. My order had not arrived 30 minutes after the estimate, so I called to see what happened, and I was told my order just left. 10 to 15 minutes later it shows up. This is crazy, as I live across the street! I had ordered chicken figures. What I got was a soggy and cold mixture of a small handful of fries, three small strips of chicken the size of the french fries, and two tator tots....seriously? This cost $13!!! I was hungry after forcing it down. I am not joking when I say I would have gotten higher quality, larger, and far cheaper meal off of a McDonald's Kid's menu. Never again and beware.

I love Big Nick's at any time of the day or night. Great diner food. Burgers are fantastic, pizza is nice and thin and tasty. I've taken many friends here at all hours, no one ever leaves disappointed. I've also ordered from them several times, and I've never had a problem with food being cold or not tasting right. But then I do live one block away.

I love Big Nick's because they are reliable. You know you're getting diner food, and it's good diner food. I usually get breakfast from them because it's delish and they do it all day. Their cheeseburgers are also satisfying. A huge plus for me is the Big Nick Soda! No other place I've found will deliver an extra large fountain soda with or without ice. WIn! Prompt delivery, very rarely get the order even slightly wrong.

I've lived around the corner from this place for just about 40 years. In pre-Seamless Web days, when my son was growing up, we used to say that he called the Burger Joint "Mommy." When a restaurant survives all these years, they have to be doing something right, and indeed they are most reliable, especially for their namesake Big Nick burger. It's a good size and arrives at correct rare or medium.

NEVER AGAIN! This place has horrible food. HORRIBLE! the worst delivery service. I live a few blocks away and made a mistake ordering from them - I got my food cold in 45 minutes. The burger was rare (I wanted it well done), the fries were ice cold and completely soggy. The "mexican burger" is just meat between two slices of hard bread covered in some sort of tomato, puke-like sauce. It tastes accordingly. I am genuinely surprised that my buddy didn't get food poisoning from the funny-smelling mushrooms on top of his burger... Also, it all comes packed in dirty containers, everything is thrown in together so that by the time you get your food it gets messed up! This wasn't the first time I had to send their food back either! Both this time and last, I had to deal with the rude staff over the phone and they again refused to refund my order. Pretty much SOL. Beware of the people (all by the name of Kevin, it seems), who write good reviews for this place. They are probably the managers of this establishment. I will never order from here again! When you are positive that you can get better food at McDonald's, you don't want to go to Big Nick's and Burger Joint & Pizza! Don't repeat my double-mistake. But if you don't believe me, just order anything off their outrageously overpriced menu and convince yourself!

My wife and I have been ordering from here for a year or so. Everytime we have ordered burgers and fries and they have been pretty good. However, tonight I tried to order something diferent and decided on chicken strips. How can you go wrong with chicke strips right? For 13 dollars, I was thinking it would be almost too much to eat. My food came, I open it up and to my suprise, it looked like something I could get from the local grocery store in the frozen foods section. Five small, and I mean very small, pieces of chicken that were warm at best and soggy fries. For good measure there was a strip of random bacon I guess could have doubled for an extra peice of chicken. I did call and speak with the manager and as per usual, could care less. Needless to say, if you decide to eat here, dont get the chicken fingers, rather save your money and go to the grocery store or McDonalds.

Awful. We ordered open faced turkey sandwiches that came with stuffing, sweet potatoes, mixed veggies, salad, corn on the cob and dinner rolls. The turkey is deli meat, not thick sliced turkey. The entire plate tasted like italian salad dressing. The corn was soggy. The dinner rolls were stale and smelled funny. We will never order from here again.

The only reason I'm giving this restaurant 1 star is because I don't have the option of giving none. My friends and I ordered a cheese pie, mozzarella sticks and nachos from here recently and all the three items were among the worst things I have ever eaten. The sauce was ridiculously sweet and the pie was cold, hard and had almost no cheese on it. The "nachos" consisted of a pile of tortilla chips with some beans dumped on the middle of the pile. The mozzarella sticks were empty but for a little cheese on the inside of one side. I'm not sure if the Big Nick's on 71st and this location are related. The Big Nick's on 71st is great and I will continue to order from there. I will never make the mistake of ordering from this location again.

How do they keep such a large menu and keep great quality across their food? pizza and burgers recommended. good greek foods, including their spinach pie. less good - their sandwiches. dont even go to the other big nicks - that one is not affiliated and makes it their job to rip off this one.

$13 for 4 cold, mediocre chicken fingers and some cold fries? Hell, no. I like to order when I get in late from going out, and it seemed like this place was the only one that was still open at 4am when I ordered at that time in the past, but the quality has been going down recently, and the time for delivery is increasing. I'm not asking for much - just some warm chicken fingers and fries delivered from 4 blocks away, at 3 or 4am. If that's not possible, sorry Big Nick's but you're out..

Vegetarian chili was unexpected and delicious. Nicks special sauce is very good and brings alot to there average vegatable burger.

I wanted spaghetti w/ sausage, but it's not on the menu. Instead I ordered meat parmigiana (sausage) with linguine, and garlic bread for an extra $2. I live 16 blocks away. Delivery was 35 minutes, within advertised range. The food was barely warm. It tasted o.k., but nothing special. I've had better sausage. The garlic bread was very good. I'd probably order again and hope the food was a bit warmer.

Food ok, but service HORRIBLE. Order delivered late, there was no record of my order when I called, two items were missing from the order and the pizza was mangled. BEWARE--A REAL HEADACHE

Bad food, bad service.

the food delivered was almost uniformly awful - including the packaged piece of pound cake. my bbq chicken was tolerable - but all of the sides surrounding it were almost inedible. the corn on the cob WAS inedible - and such an easy thing to make. this was a great disappointment, especially since i have gotten food from the other big nick's and it was just fine.... but i won't be ordering from this one ever again.

The best 24-hour diner on the UWS, with lots of style points and a much longer menu than many other diners. Can't beat the hours. Only downside: service if you sit down is inconsistent and inattentive. It's not gourmet, but I've never had a bad entree at Big Nick's.

Best burgers and amazing menu

I order from this place when I'm hungry and don't want to try something new, or when my boyfriend and I want completely different things because we can always agree on Big Nick's. Just about everything I've tried from here is good. I love the baklava they sometimes include in the order. The veggie hot dog, and veggie burger are both really good. Solid place.

This was my first and probably only time ordering from Big Nick's. The delivery guy was really rude and smirky for no reason, and the food was cold and stale tasting. I had high hopes for my food and was highly disappointed.

Best vegetarian hotdogs ever!

Ordered the pizza and it was ok; could work in a pinch but there are better pizza places.

Not only do they have crazy good french toast, but the price in unbeatable!

Consistently good food at fair prices. NEVER a mistake in my order! Delivery is to the second!

Ordered at 7:15 p.m on a Tuesday night. The expected delivery time was 15 - 30 min. At 8:15 I called to ask where my food was. The guy on the phone asks me "what's your address?" and I tell him, and he says "2 minutes. Very busy." Now it's 8:45 and I still haven't gotten anything. I've ordered from them before and their food isn't nearly worth the hassle.

Stick with the Greek specialties and you won't be disappointed - they're great. Order breakfast or something and beware. The last "omelette" I ordered was inedible. The grits came slopped all over it and the "avocado" was not in the omelette at all but rather in a separate container. As guacamole, which they charged me extra for (and didn't tell me they were doing till the delivery showed up) and which I can't eat anyway because I can't eat raw onions. Gross, gross, gross.

Horrible food and service. We didn't receive part of our order, so we called in, they said they would send it. An hour later, it still hadn't arrived, so we called again, they said they guy left. 2 hours later, we called again and finally got the manager who said they guy must have gotten lost so he would make another one. We someone finally came, 2 and half hours later, the order was freezing cold. They wouldn't refund us. All of the food that did arrive was horrible. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT.

Don't expect them to deliver everything you order - they messed up two orders in one day, and they refused to fix them!

We waited over an hour for our delivery and when we called in, were told that it was our fault for living so far away... Not impressed.

Food was ice cold upon arrival and tasted equally as bad. You don't make a chicken cheesesteak with two whole chicken breasts - absolutely disgusting. Would be wise to avoid this place

Most the food at Big Nick's is really good. The pizza however was not so great. I love their gazpacho and their pastitsio.

Flavorful food, healthy portions and huge variety.

Big Nick's food, as always, was solid. But was definitely dissapointed that they forgot the Russian dressing and the Honey Mustard.

We have ordered from them numerous times and a couple of times they have delivered Tsasiki instead of Tartar sauce. The last time we called to complain, they tried to say that this is their version of Tartar. the food is generally good unless you order something that requires tartar...

Best burgers in the city -- probably the world, actually. The menu is 20-odd pages and has anything you could ever want in a diner. Ordering the food is so convenient, but you miss out on the glorious dive-y-ness of the place: the walls are covered with photos of obscure 'celebrities' and goddamn it's just a great place to eat!

Good food but they delivered me the wrong burger. The burgers are very basic, literally just the meat, bread and whatever else it says on the description. Dont expect lettuce & tomatos unless you upgrade to the deluxe

Always delish! Always fresh. Anything you want, they have. And they deliver all night!!

Well, I ordered a cheddar burger and it arrived sans cheese. It was pretty good, but $6.75 for some plain meat and a bun isn't my idea of cheap. I also got a side of fresh veggies, which was your standard steamed broc, caul, carrot and zuc. A little over cooked, no seasoning or anything. $4.50. Delivery was fast, but I'll probably stick to Harriet's Kitchen for my burger and side veggies.

Specified delivery time as 530pm as I work nights and wanted to eat before work. They delivered it around 1pm even though their receipt said 530. When the restaurant was called, the woman told me "Hmmm, I'll tell management" and hung up. Food was fine but more than subpar customer service.

Huge menu, great food, fast delivery. Tons of yummy veggie options. Great prices. Diner menu with food that is SO much better than diner food. French toast is AMAZING - I kid you not, it rivals Isabella's.

This place is slipping. I used to love it here, but lately, every time I order, something is wrong, or whole items are missing. Delivery takes much longer than 30-40 minutes (well over an hour just now, on a non-rainy Wednesday), and the guy handed me my food (minus an item, of course) with the container sideways, so it's a giant mess, and soggy to boot. Not ordering from here again.

it hits the spot, and it's quick and cheap, but it just isn't that tasty. still, for some reason, it's significantly better than the one on 71st st

During his childhood in Athens, an expensive item like meat was stretched as far as it would go and never eaten everyday. It was often a matter of only on Sunday instead of never on Sunday as it says in the song. Now, the foods of Greece and the Mediterranean have gained recognition because of their emphasis on vegetables, grains and fish, but back then, Nick’s mother, Artemis, would fix a large plate of string beans braised in tomato. To Little Nick, this was equal to filet mignon. Often, he spent a day with her in the garden watching her cook dishes that were praised by all. What he didn't know then was that he was beginning his life's work.
Nick’s mother's only property was a small part of an ancient olive grove on the island of Samos where she was born and raised. She received her "profits" in olives and oil—a high quality, delicate variety. When she bought other oil, Nick found her usually excellent food inedible. It was his first lesson in cooking—choose ingredients carefully.
The best Mediterranean food comes from a home kitchen, but it still has been Nick’s dream since he was a culinary student at New York City Technical College to present the essence of that cuisine in his own restaurant—his favorite dishes freshly cooked with fresh ingredients.
Nick’s mother told him to add one more thing when cooking a wonderful Greek meal—good feelings for the friends coming to eat! For the folks at Big Nick’s, that’s you!
